This class will introduce you to the xTool F1 Ultra dual-laser engraver. This machine is great for engraving and cutting a wide variety of materials, including wood, leather, acrylic, and metal. It’s fast, precise, and especially useful for creating signage, jewelry, tool marking, tags, and decorative items.
The xTool F1 Ultra uses both a blue diode laser (445 nm) and an infrared fiber laser (1064 nm), giving it the ability to work on everything from soft organic materials to hard metals. Instead of moving a toolhead like many other machines, the F1 Ultra uses a galvo system to direct the laser beam with mirrors. You can think of it as a “computer-controlled beam of light” that can draw, mark, or cut with exceptional detail.
You will learn basic tool operation with an emphasis on safety, material selection, and how to use the xTool Creative Space software. With successful completion of this class, you will be certified to use the xTool F1 Ultra on your own at Maker Works with a membership.
People under age 16 may take this tool checkout class with their parent/guardian (both adult and minor must register and pay.) A parent/guardian who has taken the checkout class must also accompany them when operating the tool. Ages 16 and up are encouraged to take checkout classes in any area they wish, with parent/guardian approval.
