Jewelry Classes

We offer several classes on tools and techniques that produce extraordinary results in Jewelry, our newest studio.

Lost-wax Investment Centrifugal Casting - a fun class that introduces a technique which gives impressive results and is the basis for a lot of jewelry.
CNC Jewelry Mill - with a high-speed spindle that is great for machining wax, you can go from a computer model to cast item with this tool, though you'll need to know some CAD and CAM—see our Fusion 360 CAD and Fusion 360 CAM classes.

+ Checkout? Skill Development? Make-N-Take? What are these?

Checkout - a safety class that is required before you use the tools covered on your own. No prior experience is necessary and the class is required whether you have 50 years' experience or zero.
Skill Development - an optional class to increase your knowledge in an area
Make-N-Take - a class with the focus on making an object for you to take

+ What tools require me to take a class?

propane and oxy-acetylene torches - use for silver soldering and annealing. The propane torch can also be taught separately as a one-on-one checkout.
CNC jewelry mill - use for machinable wax, woods, plastics
centrifugal caster
pewter sandcasting
kiln - as part of the lost-wax casting class or separately as a one-on-one checkout

+ What tools can I use without taking a class?

The rolling mill and hand tools do not require a class. Please use the available SOPs (the Standard Operating Procedure manuals located at each tool) to make your project.

+ Do I need a membership? Should I take notes? Can I retake a class?

No membership is required.
No need to take notes, we have all the information documented in the SOPs (the Standard Operating Procedure manuals located at each tool).
You can audit, for free, a class you've already taken as a refresher.
