In this class, you will be checked out to use the:
Drill press in the wood shop (woods and plastics)
Resaw bandsaw in the wood shop (real woods only)
14” bandsaw in the wood shop (woods and plastics)
Drill press in the metal shop (metal only)
Vertical bandsaw in the metal shop (metal only)
Horizontal bandsaw in the metal shop (metal only)
This class teaches basic operation of the shop’s drill presses and bandsaws. The emphasis of the class is on the broadly applicable shop safety concepts of speed and feed selection, as well as workholding strategies. With the successful completion of this class you will be certified to use the tools listed above on your own, with membership.
People ages 13-15 may take this tool checkout class with their parent/guardian (both adult and minor must register and pay). A parent/guardian who has taken the checkout class must also accompany them when operating the tool. Ages 16 and up are encouraged to take checkout classes in any area they wish, with parent/guardian approval.
