This class will introduce you to the CNC Plasma Cutter. This machine can cut up to 1/2″ thick steel and any type of metal, even bronze or gold. This class includes a take-away item.
You will learn basic operation with an emphasis on safety. With the successful completion of this class you will be certified to use the CNC Plasma Cutter on your own.
Though not a prerequisite for the class, you will need an understanding of how to use SheetCAM software to convert AutoCAD (and other dxf) CAD files of your design into the files necessary to run the CNC Plasma Cutter. If you’re unfamiliar with CAM software, please refer to our SheetCAM Software Skill Development SOP in the shop.
Please note: People often use the tools included in our Abrasives Checkout Class to finish their plasma-cut projects, and we usually offer this class just before or after plasma cutter class to make it convenient to take both.
People ages 13-15 may take this tool checkout class with their parent/guardian (both adult and minor must register and pay). A parent/guardian who has taken the checkout class must also accompany them when operating the tool. Ages 16 and up are encouraged to take checkout classes in any area they wish, with parent/guardian approval.
